Between the Ages

This world premier event features rarely seen aerial dance performed by a talented group of local professionals whose power and grace will thrill audiences young and old. Set to an original score composed by Michael Mortilla whose resume includes the Olympics, Martha Graham and The Academy of Motion Pictures.

In this production, artistic director Rina van de Kamp uses original music by well known composer Michael Mortilla, combined with innovative aerial dance to present the compelling autobioghaphical stories of the company members.

The professionally trained local dancers integrate dance, theater and low-flying circus apparatus such as trapeze, slings, and rope/harness.

The company includes dancers and singers from Santa Barbara County. Two are graduates of UCLA, one from UC Davis, and another from New York University; all veterans in their field.

Michael Mortilla has composed music for the Olympics, Martha Graham and the Academy of Motion Pictures.

Nicole Helton has danced with Baryshnikov

Ken Gilbert and E. Bonnie Lewis of DramaDogs and Slightly Askew Players

Rina van de Kamp President of Santa Barbara Dance Alliance, has danced with; Between the Lines, Diavolo Dance Theatre and Baryshnikov.

These seasoned performers will be a big draw to local dance enthusiasts.

This area is blessed with a number of visiting dance companies. Now comes a local dance company that introduces aerial dance, rarely seen on the Central Coast

The performance is at the newly renovated Marjorie Luke Theatre.
